Rocklin, CA Filming & Production: Student Filming (2026)

Chapter 12.32, Filming Activities, otherwise requires a film permit from the film permit coordinator for any filming on public property in Rocklin. Section 12.32.020(J) defines a student filming activity as filming conducted to fulfill a course requirement by a student enrolled at a public or private school. Section 12.32.050 lists the activities the permit chapter does not reach, and its introductory clause conditions every listed exemption, including student filming, on the activity not requiring the closure of a city street or substantially impeding pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

Subsection F then names student filming activities conducted to fulfill a course requirement by a student enrolled at a public or private school as one of those exempt categories, alongside news filming, private or family use filming, limited commercial still photography, and filming by or for the city.
