d, part of the Technical Amendments to the locally-enforced Uniform Fire Code, defines what counts as a lawful backyard fire: "an approved outdoor fire shall be classified as any fire taking place on a residential property within Cherry Hill Township for the sole purpose of providing warmth or recreation and is contained within an approved device. " Fuel is restricted to "seasoned fire wood, natural gas or propane," ruling out trash, leaves or construction debris. The location rule requires the fire to sit at least 20 feet from any property line and at least 15 feet from any combustible structure, expressly including dwellings, garages, sheds, decks and fences.
