Cicero, IL Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Town Code Section 42-362 makes it unlawful for any person to "have, keep, store, use, manufacture, handle, transport, sell, offer for sale, give away, deliver, transfer or possess any fireworks" anywhere in Cicero, unless authorized elsewhere in the Code. " Section 42-363 carves out three exceptions: signaling devices used by railroads and vessels, normal photographic flash compositions sold by dealers, and displays authorized by a permit from the fire marshal for public parks or other open places, subject to whatever safety restrictions the fire marshal imposes.

Because Cicero treats fireworks as a fire-safety matter rather than a licensing matter, there is no consumer permit path for personal use; the only lawful route to a fireworks display is the fire marshal's discretionary permit for a professional show. Enforcement runs through the fire marshal's office, and each violation stands alone, so possessing multiple prohibited items or repeating an offense across separate incidents can multiply the fines.
