Under Goodyear Code Section 11-1-34, the use, discharge, or ignition of fireworks within the city is prohibited except for permissible consumer fireworks as defined by ARS 36-1606. Permissible consumer fireworks include ground sparklers, ground-based fountains, novelty items, snakes, and smoke devices. These may be used on private property with owner consent during the time periods specified by state law. Aerial fireworks, firecrackers, bottle rockets, and Roman candles are illegal statewide. The Goodyear Fire Department may impose additional restrictions during high fire danger. The desert climate creates extreme fire risk. HOAs may prohibit all fireworks in their communities.
Use of illegal fireworks is a Class 1 misdemeanor under Arizona law. Fines up to $2,500. Persons responsible for damages are liable for suppression costs.
