Littleton, CO Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Section 6-4-75 of the Littleton City Code makes it unlawful to possess, manufacture, store, sell, handle or use fireworks anywhere within city limits; there is no seasonal window and no permit for individual residents. The only relief is a special event permit issued by the city for a professional pyrotechnic display, or fireworks separately allowed under Colorado state law. 5-2001, novelty items such as snakes, party poppers and ground spinners that do not explode or fly. 3G classification under the adopted International Fire Code. Littleton's Fire Department and Police Department both have authority to enforce the ban; the fire code's violation section, 5-2-3, routes every fireworks violation through the city's general penalty at Section 1-4-1, and treats each day fireworks are unlawfully possessed as a separate offense.

A person denied a special event display permit, or contesting an interpretation of the fire code amendment, can appeal to the Board of Appeals of the fire district serving the city under Section 5-2-4.
