Conway, AR Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

The Conway Municipal Code's only chapter addressing mobile food vending, Chapter 4.85, is titled Ice Cream Vendors and by its own terms covers ice cream trucks and other vehicles vending products to children; it does not create a separate general food-truck permit. Section 4.85.01 requires every driver of a covered vehicle to submit a copy of an Arkansas driver's license to the city and obtain a permit from the office of the city clerk before operating. Section 4.85.02 requires proof of automobile insurance meeting state law requirements to accompany the permit application.

Section 4.85.03 subjects every applicant to a criminal history background check as a condition of applying, and disqualifies anyone with a conviction for homicide or attempted homicide, kidnapping, assault or assaultive offenses, sexual assault or rape, any offense requiring sex-offender registration in any state, theft including robbery or burglary, prostitution, or obscenity. Section 4.85.04 layers on equipment requirements once a permit issues: four-inch WATCH FOR CHILDREN signs on all four sides, the company name, address and phone number on both sides, a closable curbside serving window, extra wide-angle mirrors, amber hazard lights visible for 100 yards, and a rear bumper cover to keep children from climbing on the vehicle. Section 4.85.05(E) sets the penalty for any violation of Chapter 4.85 at an unclassified misdemeanor with a fine of up to $500.00.
