Lehi, UT Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

080 governs food truck licensing separately from the general temporary use permit process the rest of Chapter 21 covers. To operate in Lehi, an operator applies for a business license following the procedures in Title 4 of the Lehi City Municipal Code. Each application or renewal must include a valid annual fire safety inspection form from a Utah Fire Department for every truck the operator intends to run in the City, and a valid annual health department food truck permit from whichever local health department has jurisdiction over the area where most of the truck's operations occur.

Once licensed, an operator pays no separate fee and needs no separate license to run the same truck at more than one location or on more than one day within Lehi in the same calendar year. Utah Code Section 11-56-103 lets an operator skip the Lehi license entirely if the operator already holds a valid business license from another political subdivision in the state. To use that reciprocity the operator must present a current out-of-jurisdiction business license, a current health department food truck permit from a local health department in Utah, and current proof the truck passed a fire safety inspection meeting the criteria the Utah Fire Prevention Board sets under Utah Code Section 53-7-204.

When the Lehi Fire Department performs the inspection itself, it applies those same statewide Fire Prevention Board criteria, and the City can revoke its recognition of another jurisdiction's fire inspection if the truck's Lehi operations stop meeting that standard. Lehi law enforcement officers may demand proof of licensing from any food truck operator not already known to them.
