Bensalem, PA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Township Code § 173-4(a)(1)(a) bars food trucks from operating in the public right-of-way at all, and from any Township or other public-entity property unless that entity and the Township specifically allow it. On private property, § 173-4(a)(1)(b) confines a permitted food truck to land zoned GI, General Industrial under § 232-541 et seq., requiring the property owner's written permission, barring operation on any unimproved parcel, capping the count at three trucks per location absent Township authorization, and limiting truck operations including canopies and seating to four parking spaces per truck without blocking fire lanes or existing required parking.

Section 173-4(a)(1)(c) sets hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. unless the permit or property owner restricts them further, with the Township able to grant extended hours. Two exceptions in § 173-4(a)(1)(d)-(e) let a permitted truck work the right-of-way or a residential district during a private, non-public social gathering such as a birthday party, or operate on commercial-district property with the owner's written consent if that property is licensed for on-premises liquor sales (restaurant, brewery, distillery, winery or brewery-pub license) but has no on-site kitchen or food preparation.

Section 173-5(2), (5) and (9) add flat bans: no vending within 1,000 feet of a school during school hours plus the hour before and after, no vending in any residential neighborhood except ice cream trucks or a permitted special event, and no vending for more than four hours in one right-of-way location within 24 hours absent a special event permit.
