Burlington, WI Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

1D(1) bars a permit holder from parking, stopping or operating a mobile food vehicle or pushcart adjacent to or within a one-hundred-foot radius of the nearest edge of any building or portion of a building housing a licensed food establishment whose kitchen is open to serve patrons, excluding a patio, awning or temporary enclosure. That radius can be waived only if the vendor's most recent permit application included the adjacent restaurant's written consent. Subsection E(1) then designates where mobile food vending is affirmatively allowed on City-owned or City-controlled property: public parking on the south side of Industrial Drive between Brookview Avenue and Krift Avenue in the Burlington Industrial Park, and the cul-de-sac at the end of Blackhawk Drive in the Burlington Manufacturing & Office Park, both on a first-come-first-served basis unless the City expressly approves otherwise or a special event permit applies.

Subsection D(5) adds that City parking lots are otherwise off-limits to mobile food vendors except as part of an approved special event or with Common Council approval, and vending next to or inside a City park needs Park Board sign-off, with the same one-hundred-foot radius applying to any park building that sells food or drinks. Private property is not covered by these zone restrictions.
