Federal Way, WA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

FWRC Title 19 restricts mobile food unit vending to Neighborhood Business (BN), Community Business (BC), City Center Core (CC-C), City Center Frame (CC-F), Office Park (OP), and commercial enterprise zones on private property with owner permission. Single-family and multi-family residential zones generally do not allow standing food truck operations except for private catered parties (weddings, reunions). Public-park vending in Celebration Park, Steel Lake Park, or Town Square Park is limited to city-issued concession agreements or single-day event permits through Federal Way Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services. Downtown Federal Way has designated food truck curb spaces during city-sponsored events along South 320th Street and near the Performing Arts and Event Center. Operating within 200 feet of a brick-and-mortar restaurant without the restaurant written consent is sometimes restricted on private property by lease clauses, though the city does not generally enforce this. School district property has separate rules about food trucks on campus.
