City Code § 6-492 permits food truck vendors only at locations in the public right-of-way and in public parking lots that have posted permanent signs identifying parking reserved for food trucks, and requires that the truck be legally parked wherever it operates. Section 6-491's definition confirms the alternative path: a truck may also operate on private property outside those posted downtown locations, but only with the property owner's written, notarized permission. , may not be left unattended, and may not store, park or leave the truck overnight on any street because the health department requires the truck to return to its commissary daily for water, waste and restocking.

The same section bars drive-up sales to occupants of vehicles, bars added tables, crates or racks to expand the selling area, and requires a litter receptacle for any truck selling for immediate consumption. Section 6-498 adds that signage on the truck must lie flat and not project more than six inches, exterior lighting must be hooded so it does not scatter beyond the truck and service area, and any onboard generator is capped at 65 dBA.
