Rocklin, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Rocklin Municipal Code Section 10.34.040 sets out where mobile vending vehicles may operate. Subsection A bars vending in any exclusively residentially zoned district, whether on a public street or private property, unless the truck is serving a private event with no public sales, operating as part of a city-permitted event, or delivering pre-arranged catering with no on-site sales. Subsection E carves out a separate allowance for transient ice-cream-truck-style vending: a vehicle in motion that stops no more than ten minutes to serve customers who flag it down may travel residential streets between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. from April through September, or 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from October through March, selling only pre-packaged items with no on-site cooking.

In zones where stationary vending is permitted, Subsection B layers on buffer distances: 200 feet from any park boundary during park hours, 200 feet from an event perimeter for two hours before and after the event, 200 feet from school property during school hours, 50 feet from fire hydrants, bus stops, crosswalks, traffic signals or stop signs, 25 feet from an operating restaurant's outdoor dining area, 15 feet from any building entrance or emergency exit, and 500 feet from a freeway ramp. Subsection C additionally bars vending on streets posted above 35 miles per hour, on unpaved public surfaces, in colored curb zones, on medians, or in city parking lots without written city manager authorization. Authorized event vendors are exempt from the park and event-perimeter buffers under Subsection D. Community Development and the Rocklin Police Department enforce the chapter.
