The Village of Wellington's Land Development Regulations classify a community garage sale as a "community event," the same category that covers a grand opening or a sidewalk sale. Section 3.2.2 caps these events at two per property or tenant in a calendar year and limits each one to a single day lasting less than six hours, distinguishing a casual garage sale from Wellington's more heavily regulated "events" category, which covers repetitive or larger-draw functions needing sponsors, security or special parking. Because the two-event ceiling applies per property, not per activity type, a homeowner who already held a grand opening and one garage sale in the same year has used the full allotment; a third community event of any kind, including another garage sale, would exceed the cap and require Wellington's special use permit process under Section 5.3.9 for temporary uses instead of running as an unpermitted community event.

Wellington's Code of Ordinances also carves out a practical exception for sellers: Section 22-10 lifts the Village's usual ban on parking across a swale, easement or sidewalk "during a garage sale, 'open house,' or other special or social event" where the host or neighbors allow temporary parking, though that exception does not extend to vacation rental properties.
