Home occupations in unincorporated LA County must not generate customer traffic that changes the residential character of the area. Title 22 limits external evidence of commercial activity. Excessive deliveries and customer parking can trigger code enforcement by LA County DRP.
Home occupations in unincorporated LA County must not generate customer or client traffic that changes the residential character of the neighborhood under Title 22 zoning. Most home occupation permits prohibit on-site customer visits. Deliveries must be limited to what is normal for a residential property (standard parcel carriers). Employees other than household residents are generally prohibited. The home occupation must be clearly secondary to the residential use β no exterior signage, no visible storage of materials, and no increased parking demand beyond what's normal for the residence.
Generating excessive traffic or customer visits violates home occupation conditions under Title 22. Neighbors can file complaints with code enforcement at (888) 756-2700. First violation results in a warning letter. Continued violations may result in revocation of the home occupation permit and fines of $100-$500 per day. Operating without a home occupation permit when one is required carries additional fines.
