Section 154-01.07 defines CHILD DAY CARE SERVICES, SMALL as establishments caring for five or fewer infants or children under 18, or providing prekindergarten education, where medical care or delinquency correction isn't a major element (SIC 8351). That use is listed as a permitted principal use by right in the R-1-6, R-1-8, R-1-12, R-1-20 and R-1-40 Low Density Residential Districts under §154-05.04(C)(4), in the Residential Estate Districts under §154-05.03(C)(5), and in the R-1-5 District under §154-05.05(C)(2), covering the large majority of Yuma's single-family neighborhoods. The R-1-5 District goes further: §154-05.05(D)(2) specifically exempts child day care services, small, along with piano and music lessons, from the general home-occupation rule that otherwise bars customers or employees from coming to the house. Once a home operation grows to six or more children, it becomes CHILD DAY CARE SERVICES, LARGE and shifts from a by-right use to a conditional use requiring Planning and Zoning Commission review under §154-05.04(E)(1).
