Section 1198.11(c) bars any change in the outside appearance of the building or premises tied to a home occupation, and any other visible evidence of the business, with one narrow exception for signage. That exception allows exactly one sign, capped at four square feet, that must be non-illuminated and mounted flat against the wall of the principal building rather than as a freestanding, projecting, window or yard sign. This sign standard is enforced through the same conditional use permit process that governs the whole home occupation: the applicant submits written evidence to the Board of Zoning Appeals before a public hearing, and the Board's approval covers the specific sign proposed.

Because the exterior-appearance restriction in Section 1198.11(c) reaches beyond signage, alterations like awnings, additional exterior lighting to illuminate a sign, or window displays advertising the business would also run afoul of the same subsection, since the code allows only the single described sign as visible evidence of the occupation. A property that installs a larger sign, an illuminated sign, or a sign not flush-mounted to the wall no longer meets the special criteria the Board of Zoning Appeals relied on to grant the conditional use permit.
