The Denton Development Code home occupation regulations explicitly prohibit any external evidence of business activity, including all forms of signage. No on-premises signs, yard signs, banner signs, window lettering, vehicle wraps parked prominently for advertising, or illuminated signs are permitted for home occupations in residential zoning districts. This prohibition extends to temporary signs such as A-frame sidewalk signs, feather banners, and directional signs for clients. The Denton sign code (DDC Subchapter 7) governs commercial signage in commercial and mixed-use zones; these provisions do not extend to permit any signage at a residential home occupation. Placing signs in the public right-of-way advertising a home business violates both the sign code and home occupation rules and may result in sign confiscation by the city. Home-based businesses may advertise through online platforms, social media, business cards, and other methods that do not involve physical signage at the residence.
