Hialeah, FL Home Business: Signage Rules (2026)

Subsection (c)(6) of Hialeah's home-office zoning rule, Sec. 98-2030, states plainly that no signs or other forms of commercial advertisement outside the residence are permitted, closing off yard signs, window signs, vehicle wraps parked at the property, or any other exterior marketing for a home-based office. 024, but even that allowance is confined to the inside of the residence, not anything visible from the street. The sign ban sits inside the same section that keeps a home office from altering the exterior character of the property at all: subsection (c)(10) separately requires that the secondary use of a residence as a home office not otherwise interfere with the residential character of the neighborhood, and that the exterior of the residence not be altered, changed or modified to accommodate the use of a home office.

Read together, the two provisions mean a Hialeah home office has to be functionally invisible from the curb: no advertising, no signage, and no exterior modification signaling that a business operates inside. The rule applies regardless of the type of home occupation licensed under the city's 7299(B) classification, so consultants, bookkeepers, tutors, and other home-based professionals are all held to the same no-exterior-signage standard.
