Orem, UT Home Business: Signage Rules (2026)

Among the standards a home occupation must meet under Orem City Code Section 22-14-15 is that 'The home occupation does not have any external evidence of the home occupation nor any exterior displays, displays of goods, nor advertising signs visible from outside of the dwelling unit. No activity related to the home occupation shall be conducted outside the dwelling unit and the storage of materials or products outside the dwelling unit is prohibited.' This effectively bars on-site home occupation signage in Orem's residential zones. Orem's general sign regulations are codified separately in Chapter 14 (Signs), where Section 14-3-2 defines an off-premise sign as one advertising a business that is not conducted on the premises of the sign's location; however, for home occupations the controlling rule is the outright prohibition on any sign or exterior evidence under Section 22-14-15.
