Internally illuminated, electronic, neon, or backlit signs are not permitted in any size. The intent of Chapter 17.68 is to preserve the residential character of neighborhoods, so the sign rule pairs with the prohibition on customer-attracting features such as on-site retail displays and outdoor storage.
Posting a prohibited sign for a home business is a violation of RMC §17.68 and is enforced via administrative citation by Rocklin Code Enforcement. Repeated violations can result in revocation of the Home Business Permit. Off-premises signs (such as A-frame signs placed at intersections) are also subject to removal under Title 16 sign rules.
