Vista home occupations may not display business signage visible from the exterior. Home businesses must maintain residential character with no external commercial indicators in standard residential zones.
Under Vista's Development Code, home occupations in residential zones must maintain the residential character of the neighborhood. Business signage visible from the exterior is not permitted for home occupations. Vehicles with commercial advertising associated with the home business should not be prominently displayed. The E-1 Estates zone may have slightly different provisions for agricultural-related home businesses. Vista's sign regulations (Development Code Chapter 18.56) establish separate provisions for commercial and industrial zones. Home-based businesses that exceed the character of a home occupation may require a conditional use permit or relocation to a commercial zone.
Visible signage: Code Enforcement notice. Repeated violations may result in business license revocation.
