Isleton requires a city business license for all businesses including home occupations. Home-based businesses in residential zones must be clearly incidental to residential use. Permitted activities include professional offices, tutoring, consulting, remote work, online sales, and small craft production. The business cannot occupy more than about 25 percent of the dwelling, cannot involve hazardous materials, cannot have on-site non-resident employees, and cannot generate outdoor storage visible from the street. Cottage Food Operations under AB 1616 are allowed with California Department of Public Health registration. Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (AB 626) are only allowed in participating counties; Sacramento County has authorized MEHKO.
