Under Section 14-2 of the Zoning Ordinance, an owner wishing to run a home occupation applies for a Home Occupation Permit on Department forms; a non-owner must include a letter of permission from the owner. A one-time $30 fee is paid with the application. The Director classifies applications as Minor (approved administratively) or Major (referred to the Board of Adjustment for a special exception). Approved applicants pay an annual $7.50 fee to the City Clerk on or before January 1 each year, in addition to a City Business Privilege License. The Director may inspect the premises at reasonable times. Permits are not transferable between individuals or to another location, so anyone who moves must reapply.
