Grand Prairie enforces a maximum grass and weed height of 12 inches under Chapter 28 Housing and Environment code. Violations result in notice and the city may mow the property and bill the owner with costs becoming a property lien.
The property maintenance code requires all residential and commercial properties to maintain grass and weeds below 12 inches. After a complaint or proactive inspection, Code Compliance issues a notice giving the owner a set number of days to abate the violation. If the owner fails to comply, the city contracts mowing and assesses the cost against the property, which becomes a lien if unpaid. Repeat offenders may face escalating fines.
Notice to abate. City mowing at ownerβs expense ($200 to $500+). Administrative fees. Property lien.
