Grand Prairie Code Chapter 29 (Code Compliance), Article VI (High Grass and Weeds) restricts vegetation height. The city's Code Compliance division enforces a maximum grass/weed height of 10 inches. Overgrown grass, weeds, shrubs, and vegetation are considered a nuisance and health hazard. Yard maintenance is the responsibility of every property owner and tenant. When a violation is identified, the code compliance officer gives notice to the property owner and occupant directing abatement within 10 days. If not abated, the city may declare the property a public nuisance and arrange for mowing/clearing, with costs assessed to the property owner. The city actively enforces during the growing season.
