Irving's Code of Ordinances addresses weeds, high grass, and edging requirements. Grass and weeds must not exceed 10 inches in height. All ground cover must be maintained to prevent encroachment over sidewalks, pedestrian ways, driveways, flatwork, curbs, and street pavement. Property owners are responsible for maintaining alleys and easements behind their properties free from high grass, weeds, trash, and debris. Dangerous weeds that pose health hazards must also be removed. The city may issue a notice of violation, and if the owner fails to comply, the city may perform the abatement and charge the cost to the property owner. A lien may be placed on the property for unpaid abatement costs.
