Ann Arbor, MI Landscaping Rules: Rainwater Harvesting (2026)

City Code § 2:211 authorizes the stormwater utility administrator to grant billing credits for "installation and maintenance of rain barrels, rain gardens, cisterns, dry wells, bioswales, and other water quality controls" beyond what Chapter 55 already requires. Under the companion rate table at § 2:69, single-family and two-family properties get $4.15 per quarter for one or more rain barrels and $8.59 per quarter for rain gardens, cisterns, or dry wells, stackable with other approved credits. Credits require ongoing maintenance, inspection access, and annual self-certification, and lapse if the practice stops functioning as approved.
