Schaumburg regulates trimming and removal of parkway trees through the Public Works Department. Residents may not prune or remove village-owned trees without authorization. Private tree limbs must maintain clearance over sidewalks and streets.
The Village of Schaumburg maintains parkway trees through its Public Works Division. Residents are prohibited from trimming, pruning, or removing any tree on village parkways or rights-of-way without prior approval. Parkway tree maintenance is performed on a cyclical schedule and residents may submit service requests for dead or hazardous limbs. Property owners must trim private trees overhanging public sidewalks to maintain at least 8 feet of vertical clearance and 14 feet over streets. Trees on private property that threaten public infrastructure may be subject to village orders requiring trimming or removal. Schaumburg is a Tree City USA community. Contact Public Works at (847) 895-4500.
Unauthorized removal or damage to parkway trees may result in fines and liability for replacement costs based on trunk diameter and species. Failure to maintain sidewalk clearance may result in code enforcement notices.
