Full Breakdown

Sec. 110-77, enacted by Ordinance No. 2024-4622 on June 26, 2024, sets the city's permanent landscape irrigation restrictions in Chapter 110, Article II, Division 2 (Conservation). daily, and unlawful to operate an irrigation system wastefully, including watering paved areas, sidewalks, driveways and parking lots. Even-numbered addresses may irrigate only on Thursday and/or Sunday; odd-numbered addresses only on Wednesday and/or Saturday. New landscaping gets its own schedule under (b)(2): it may be watered once on installation day and once more 24 hours before installation, and property with landscaping in place 30 days or less may water on any of six specified days, while landscaping in place 31 to 90 days is limited to Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and/or Saturday.

C. Ch. 40E-2 override the city schedule when the District's rule is more restrictive. Testing, maintenance and repair runs are allowed on restricted days under (b)(4), capped at once a week and ten minutes per zone with an attendant present. Watering-in of fertilizer, pesticide or herbicide applications is allowed under (b)(5) within the normal schedule, except phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizer applications for turf are barred outright from May 15 through November 1 under Sec. 46-219(a). 62, under (b)(7).

Violations & Fines

Sec. 110-78 assigns enforcement of the irrigation restrictions to the city's code compliance department. Sec. 110-79(a) fines a first violation $75.00, and treats each day of continued noncompliance as a separate offense, so a sprinkler left running on the wrong day or during the mid-day ban can generate a new fine daily until it is corrected.
