Code § 14-53(A) requires small tracts, house lawns, sidewalk strips, gardens, and unimproved lots of two acres or less, to be cut, clipped, or chemically controlled often enough that weeds and rank grass never top 12 inches. Larger unimproved tracts over two acres get a lighter standard under § 14-53(B): at least two cuttings a year, three months apart, though any large tract within 50 feet of improved residential property must meet the same 12-inch, small-tract standard in that buffer strip. Section 14-54 clarifies the rule doesn't force an owner to cut down trees, shrubs, crops, flowers, or other ornamental plants.
