02 REQUIRED MAINTENANCE sets the operative height limit: improved platted subdivision lots within residential subdivisions, and all commercially zoned property, must maintain noxious weeds, rank vegetation and grass at a height of less than eight inches on all portions of the property. On other lots citywide, the same eight-inch limit applies along the border of any street and any adjacent improved property, with the front-yard border extending to the building front or the average building setback (or twenty feet from the right-of-way edge where no setback is established), and side and rear yard borders extending at least six feet.

The Commissioner of Building and Zoning can also order cutting elsewhere on a property, after notice, if necessary to prevent a nuisance or safety hazard. 03. 03, once notice is served that vegetation exceeds eight inches, the owner has five days to cut it, and one notice per growing season suffices for repeat offenders. 04 has the Street Department cut the vegetation and the Assessment Supervisor bills the owner for the full cost, including labor, equipment, overhead and notification, with unpaid bills certified to the County Auditor as a property assessment.
