Terrebonne Parish, LA Landscaping Rules: Weed Ordinances (2026)

Terrebonne Parish adopted the 2009 International Property Maintenance Code as its property maintenance code under § 6-110(a), and § 6-110(b) rewrites several of that code's sections to fit the parish. 4, Weeds and Grass, requires that all premises and exterior property be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of 12 inches. The parish also amended the code's administration provisions: the Regulatory Division of the Department of Planning and Zoning is responsible for the code's overall administration, with its official in charge designated by the Director of Planning and Zoning with the concurrence of the parish president, and that official can appoint deputy inspectors.

1. 2 consists of the members of the Terrebonne Parish Council sitting in special session, following the normal notice rules for a council special session. 5, was deleted as well. Because the printed local revisions do not carry their own dollar fine for a weeds violation, the underlying misdemeanor exposure runs through the parish's general penalty clause, Code § 1-6, punishable by up to 30 days in the parish jail or a fine of up to $500, or both, with each day the violation continues a separate offense.
