Kokomo, IN Mobility & Curb Rules: Bike Lane Rules (2026)

Schedule VI of Chapter 79 lists the specific segments where Kokomo prohibits parking to protect a marked bike lane. The Webster Street segment between Alto Road and Center Road was designated by Ordinance 6207, passed November 26, 2001, with both sides of the street posted no parking. A second Webster Street segment was added by Amending Ordinance 6664, passed February 27, 2012, extending the restriction further north. These are the only bike-lane no-parking designations printed in the current code; a bicyclist elsewhere in the city is governed by § 70.03, which puts riders under the same duties as vehicle drivers except where a rule by its nature cannot apply to a bicycle.

Separately, Chapter 74 adopted a 1983 bikeway plan for the joint Kokomo-Howard County urbanized area, but that plan only guides future route planning; under § 74.16(B) no specific bikeway route is created without a separate Common Council ordinance, so the bikeway plan itself creates no obstruction rule. The Kokomo Police Department's Traffic Division enforces posted no-parking zones, including the Schedule VI segments, alongside its other parking enforcement duties on city streets.
