Section 24-134, titled 'Truck deliveries; loading and unloading,' makes it unlawful to load or unload a delivery truck at any shopping center located within the city between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. The same section separately bars operating a refrigeration unit on any truck within 300 feet of a residential unit during that same overnight period, so a reefer trailer idling outside a grocery store near homes is covered even if no loading is happening. A related provision, section 24-135, applies the identical 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. curfew to loading or unloading a bulk waste container (a dumpster serviced by mechanical collection equipment) within 300 feet of a residential, noise-sensitive or public space area if the sound at the boundary exceeds the section 24-132 limit. The Gretna Police Department enforces Article V of Chapter 24 under section 24-129, and a shopping center or trucking company that repeatedly violates the curfew can be cited for each night separately.
