Anaheim Municipal Code Chapter 6.70 restricts construction noise in and adjacent to residential areas to the hours of 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Saturday. No construction activity that produces noise audible at a residential property is permitted on Sundays or federal holidays. This encompasses all phases of construction including site preparation, grading, excavation, foundation work, framing, roofing, exterior finishing, demolition, and major renovation projects. Both residential and commercial construction sites adjacent to residential zones must comply.

The city's significant development activity — driven by continued expansion of the Anaheim Resort district, the Platinum Triangle mixed-use area, and ongoing residential construction throughout the city — makes construction noise a frequent concern. Projects within commercially zoned areas such as the Resort district may receive conditional use permits that allow extended construction hours, but these permits typically include conditions requiring noise mitigation measures (sound barriers, equipment muffling) and prohibiting the noisiest activities during early morning or evening hours when residential receptors are most affected.

Anaheim's Building Division coordinates with Code Enforcement on construction noise complaints. Builders and contractors are expected to post construction hours at the job site and to notify adjacent residents prior to the start of especially noisy phases (demolition, pile driving, major concrete pours).
