Ashwaubenon, WI Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

Section 9-1-6 of the Ashwaubenon Municipal Code opens with a general ban on loud, disturbing or unnecessary sounds that would annoy or disturb a person of ordinary sensibilities on any public street, alley or park, or at a private residence. Subsection (C) narrows that into two time bands. , no noise may be made that can be heard from 100 feet away or beyond the originating property line, whichever distance is less, effectively a bright-line nighttime cap that does not depend on proving annoyance. During all other hours, the standard reverts to noise that is unreasonable or unnecessary and tends to cause or provoke a disturbance, defined in subsection (C)(2) as noise showing little judgment, being irrational, excessive, or damaging to property, or being avoidable through quieter alternative methods.

The ordinance explicitly covers squealing tires, whistling, music, bells, horns, exhaust and engine noise, vehicles needing repair, radios, construction or demolition, animal sounds, sporting events and landscaping or lawn equipment in residential zones. line from Ashwaubenon Creek to Lombardi Avenue, subject to public-safety exceptions. Subsection (D) exempts Village construction sites, public works operations and emergency operations (snow and ice removal, water and electrical repairs) from the general prohibition, provided noise is minimized through proper equipment operation during reasonable hours.
