Avondale, AZ Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

Many cities define a hard window (for example 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.) during which noise rules tighten. Avondale takes a different approach. Section 15-11 of the City Code makes it a misdemeanor for anyone to create 'any unreasonably loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise within the limits of the city,' or to make noise of such character, intensity or duration as to disturb the public peace. Because the standard is reasonableness rather than a clock, officers can respond to a disturbance at any hour, and a daytime noise can violate the code just as a nighttime one can. The City of Avondale has publicly noted that it does not have set noise-disturbance hours and that officers may respond whenever a reported disturbance is occurring. The enumerated acts in Section 15-11(c) reinforce this time-neutral framing: playing a radio, sound device or instrument 'in such a manner or with such volume as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose' of nearby persons, and yelling or shouting on public streets 'at any time or place,' are both listed as violations. Limited exemptions apply, including city vehicles on public business and necessary nighttime street or bridge repairs.
