Westland, MI Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Westland's blight ordinance defines a 'junked automobile' as any vehicle not licensed for the highway for more than ten days, or inoperative for any reason for more than ten days, whether licensed or not. Section 22-458 lists storing junk automobiles on premises without a valid junkyard permit or used car license as a cause of blight. The director of building, or another person the mayor designates, notifies the owner and occupant in writing to remove the vehicle within ten days; failing to comply within that window is itself a violation under section 22-459. Note: section 78-35, flagged by the scout as an abandoned-vehicle provision, is a narrow found-property exclusion clause and does not itself regulate junked vehicles, so it is skipped here in favor of the blight article's on-point sections.
