Albany, OR Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

The rule for large trucks and rigs is § 13.21.030(12) of the Albany Municipal Code, and it turns on size, not on whether the vehicle is commercial. The code bars stopping, standing or parking upon any street, alley, public parking lot or parking strip in the city with any vehicle or combination of vehicles in excess of 23 feet in length or in excess of 8 feet in width. The ban runs between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. of the following day and all day on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Because the text reaches a vehicle or a combination of vehicles, the length and width figures apply to a rig as well as a single truck. The places named are public: the street, the alley, the public parking lot and the parking strip.

Section 13.21.030(13) adds business-use limits for any street in the city. No one can park a vehicle there for the principal purpose of displaying it for sale, greasing or repairing it (except repairs necessitated by emergency), displaying or advertising from it, or selling merchandise from it, unless the sale is in a duly licensed market place or authorized or licensed under City ordinances. Storage or junkage or dead storage for more than 24 hours is barred by the same subsection.

The general carve-outs in the lead-in apply: a driver can stop when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or a traffic control signal. Section 13.21.120 exempts any vehicle of a City department or public utility while necessarily in use for construction or repair work on the street, and any United States vehicle collecting, transporting or delivering mail. Alleys have a separate work-vehicle allowance in § 13.21.030(10): a vehicle can park in an alley between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. if it is actively needed for installation or repairs to equipment or buildings or for building construction and does not block other traffic.
