Antioch, CA Parking Rules: Commercial Vehicle Restrictions (2026)

Antioch restricts the parking of commercial and oversized vehicles in residential districts through Antioch Municipal Code Chapter 4-5 and Title 9 zoning standards. A commercial vehicle is generally defined as a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or more, or any vehicle displaying commercial signage, tool racks, ladders, or equipment indicative of business use, or vehicles licensed as commercial under DMV. These vehicles cannot be parked overnight (typically 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) on public streets in residential zones, nor stored on residential lots in front yard setbacks. Exceptions exist for vehicles actively engaged in loading, unloading, or service calls to a specific address (generally limited to the duration of the work). Tractor-trailers, dump trucks, tow trucks, and delivery box trucks are the primary targets of enforcement. California Vehicle Code 22507.5 authorizes cities to adopt such restrictions provided signs are posted at entrances to affected neighborhoods; Antioch has posted signage at many residential district boundaries.
