Bayonne, NJ Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Bayonne City Code § 7-18.3 bars parking any commercial vehicle on a public street in the City of Bayonne between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. A commercial vehicle is defined to include truck tractors, trailers, semi-trailers, trucks and vans with a registered gross vehicle weight over 12,000 pounds, buses, motor homes, and omnibus vehicles including taxis and limousines, whenever used for a commercial purpose, or any vehicle bearing a commercial-type license plate designation or carrying business lettering or advertising. Limited exceptions apply: vehicles parked in streets designated for truck and tractor parking under the Schedule at § 7-18.2(d) with a valid decal, vehicles providing emergency medical or mechanical services for up to one hour, and vehicles delivering food or medicine for up to 15 minutes between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Taxicabs may also use approved taxi stands under Chapter 8. A sedan bearing limousine plates that is the only vehicle in its household may qualify for an overnight parking permit from the Parking Utility if no other household member owns a separately registered or leased vehicle, subject to false-statement, permit-misuse and counterfeit-permit penalties running as high as $1,000 and up to 90 days of imprisonment or community service. Separately, § 7-18.2(a) bars parking any tractor, trailer or vehicle over 16,000 pounds gross weight on any public street or municipal lot except for the time needed to load or unload.
