Bayonne, NJ Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Bayonne City Code Section 7-13.1, carried forward from 1972 Code Section 10-3.6, sets a blanket rule that unless controlled by a more restrictive provision, no person shall park a vehicle for longer than 48 hours at any time upon any street or part of a street within the limits of the City of Bayonne. The accompanying schedule applies the 48-hour limit to all municipal streets along their entire length, making it the default backstop rule wherever a more specific time limit, metered zone, or residential permit area does not already control.

That more specific layer exists throughout the rest of Chapter 7: Section 7-12 separately bars stopping or standing during listed hours on named streets, such as both sides of Avenue E between Broadway and East 12th Street, and both sides of West 8th Street between Broadway and Avenue C. Section 7-13.2 adds a two-hour limit on many commercial streets between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Chapter 7's general penalty section, 7-4, unless another penalty is expressly set, makes it unlawful to stand or park beyond a time limitation or in violation of a zone prohibition, and any vehicle parked in violation of the chapter is also deemed a nuisance under Section 7-3, allowing a peace officer to have it towed at the owner's expense for removal and storage. The Municipal Council enforces these limits alongside the Bayonne Parking Authority and Police Department, who post the signage the schedules require.
