Bayonne, NJ Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Bayonne City Code Section 7-11, most recently amended May 17, 2023 by Ordinance No. O-23-24, declares that whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation covers the streets and highways, an emergency exists and no vehicle shall be parked on the listed streets or portions of them. The prohibition does not lift when the snow stops falling; it stays in effect until the streets have been plowed sufficiently that parked cars will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic. The section's schedule names specific emergency no-parking routes, including the entire length of Avenue C and Broadway, Avenue E from 9th Street to 52nd Street, Avenue A from 1st Street to 36th Street, Prospect Avenue from 19th Street to Route 440, and numbered cross streets such as 7th, 10th, 26th, 32nd, 39th, 54th and 55th Streets.

Any vehicle parked or standing in violation is deemed a nuisance and a menace to safe traffic regulation, and any police officer may have it removed, with the owner responsible for the reasonable costs of removal and storage before regaining possession. The section's effectiveness depends on the required signs actually being posted. Section 7-11 also lets the City Engineer, Chief of Police, or Public Safety Director order temporary no-parking signs for construction, sidewalk repair, or similar work, and separately authorizes parking meter bags for contractors needing an on-street space, priced at $10 per 24 hours for a single-head meter and $20 for a double-headed meter, or $25 per day for a no-parking sign, waived for nonprofit charitable events.
