Glendale Commercial Vehicle Restrictions Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

Glendale Municipal Code Section 10.36.130 restricts the parking of large vehicles, including commercial vehicles, on public streets to a maximum of two hours. A "large vehicle" is defined as any motor vehicle, house car, recreational vehicle, or trailer exceeding 8 feet in width, 8 feet in height, or 23 feet in length, including all fixtures, accessories, and property (except single-post radio antennas and side mirrors). This effectively covers most commercial trucks, box trucks, and oversized work vehicles.

Two exceptions exist: (1) vehicles actively loading or unloading property may exceed the two-hour limit while the work is being completed, and (2) vehicles parked in connection with the performance of a service to property in the same block may remain while the additional time is reasonably necessary to complete such service. However, using a vehicle for general overnight storage or commuter parking on public streets is not covered by these exceptions.

The 300-foot rule under Section 10.36.020 applies to commercial vehicles as well: successive acts of parking within 300 feet on any street are deemed a single act of parking. Temporary permits are available from the Chief of Police but are limited to two 24-hour periods per month per vehicle.
