100. The five-hour cap has only two built-in exceptions. The first covers a vehicle actively loading or unloading property, where additional time beyond five hours is allowed only to the extent necessary to complete that work. The second covers a vehicle parked in connection with and in aid of a service being performed to or on a property in the same block, again limited to the additional time reasonably necessary to finish the service call; a contractor's truck parked outside a job site all day can rely on this exception, but only for as long as work is actually underway.

Neither exception is open-ended: once the loading or service work is done, the commercial vehicle must move even if less than five hours have elapsed since it parked. 130 defines a related term, 'large' vehicle, by size, over eight feet wide, eight feet tall, or twenty-three feet long, which can overlap with commercial trucks and campers subject to the separate two-hour large-vehicle limit. 090.
