Glynn County, GA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 609.1 of the Glynn County Zoning Ordinance lists the accessory uses that come with a dwelling or mobile home on an individual zoning lot, starting with a private garage capped at four automobiles for a one- or two-family dwelling (two per unit for multi-family, 1.5 per sleeping room for a group dwelling). Subsection (b) then addresses open storage or parking outside a garage: it must stay within those same storage capacities, and critically, 'such space shall not be used for more than one commercial vehicle licensed as ¾ ton or less in capacity per family residing on the premises.'

That means a household gets exactly one commercial vehicle as an accessory use, and only if it's rated ¾ ton or under; anything heavier, a box truck, tractor, dump truck, or a second commercial vehicle, isn't an accessory use the zoning ordinance allows on a residential lot regardless of how much yard space is available. The rule sits alongside the general accessory-use setback standard in Section 610, which keeps any accessory use, including open vehicle storage, at least five feet from any property line, and the broader off-street parking standards in Section 611 that apply to the principal dwelling itself.
