Glynn County, GA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 2-15-6 of the Glynn County Code lists dozens of specific street segments on St. Simons Island where stopping, standing or parking a motor vehicle is prohibited unless Glynn County has posted signage designating a parking area there. along Driftwood, Beachview Drive between Arnold Road and Neptune, Dixon Lane between several numbered cross streets, Oglethorpe Avenue (a tow-away zone on both sides throughout), the area within 20 feet of intersections along 12th Street to First Street at East Beach, Demere Road's south side near Frederica Road, and Riverview Drive from Frederica Road to Wassaw Street.

Within the St. Simons Island Village (Mallery Street south of Ocean Boulevard and Neptune Park), the ordinance adds further rules: the Glynn County Police Chief designates one or two marked police parking spaces that civilians may not block; buses over 21 feet may not stop for more than 15 minutes to load or unload; vehicles over 21 feet generally cannot park in Village spaces, with a narrow exception for vehicles up to 27 feet and 14 feet high in four designated spaces closest to St.

Simons Sound; vehicles over eight feet high are barred from six spaces on the east side of Mallery Street; and no vehicle may idle its engine for more than 30 minutes in any 24-hour period while parked in the Village. Ordinary stops required by traffic conditions, traffic control devices, or an officer's direction are excluded from the definition of stop, stand or park. Glynn County Police enforce these restrictions, and Glynn County's Traffic Safety Engineer has authority to mark additional restricted areas by signage, including sections of the Coast Guard parking lot.
