Kenner, LA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 7.11(a) of the Kenner Unified Development Code bars parking or storing any vehicle licensed, or required to be licensed, above the 10,000-pound plate classification, plus any school bus or private bus plate, on developed or undeveloped residential lots, except while loading, unloading, or doing work at the adjacent premises. The rule exempts owner-operators who have continuously parked their vehicle on the same premises since July 14, 1980, but that grandfathered right disappears if the owner sells the vehicle without replacing it, stops parking it for six continuous months, or is convicted twice within two years for violating the section.

No one holding grandfathered rights may park more than two commercial vehicles, and the right cannot be transferred to another person. School buses get their own layer of rules within the same subsection: only one registered bus per residential site (two for households with two school bus drivers), parked in the side or rear yard, never the front, and never the street-side yard of a corner lot, screened by vegetation or an opaque fence up to seven feet of wood, brick, or masonry, and kept off the street per Section 15-51.1.

Only light maintenance, cleaning, wiper blades, bulbs, batteries, belts, fluids, tires, and brake shoes, is allowed, and only between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., screened from street view.
