OCCO Title 6, Division 4 and the Orange County Zoning Code restrict the parking of commercial vehicles in residential zones of unincorporated areas. Oversized commercial vehicles and equipment are generally prohibited from being stored on residential streets or properties.
Under OCCO Title 6, Division 4 (Traffic Ordinances), commercial vehicles exceeding certain size or weight limits are restricted from parking on residential streets in unincorporated areas. OCCO Β§6-4-806 addresses commercial advertising vehicles and restricts their placement on public rights-of-way. The Orange County Zoning Code (Title 7, Division 9) limits the storage of commercial vehicles and heavy equipment in residential zones. Vehicles used primarily for commercial purposes that exceed 10,000 pounds GVWR or are more than 7 feet in height are generally not permitted to be parked or stored in residential zones. The 72-hour public street parking rule (CVC Β§22651(k)) also applies to commercial vehicles. Vehicles displaying commercial advertising may not be parked on residential streets primarily for advertising purposes. The OC Sheriff handles street parking enforcement, while OC Code Enforcement addresses zoning violations for commercial vehicle storage on residential properties.
Street parking violations are infractions under OCCO Title 6 with standard citation fines. Zoning violations for commercial vehicle storage are handled by OC Code Enforcement with notice and compliance requirements. Vehicles may be towed after 72 hours.
