Anderson has no ordinance assigning meanings to painted curb colors (red/yellow/etc.). The city itself paints or marks streets and curbs to designate no-parking, narrow-street, angle-parking, and limited zones — residents may not paint curbs to reserve parking.
The Anderson Traffic Code does not use a color-coded curb system, and there is no section defining what red, yellow, or other curb colors mean. Instead, parking restrictions take effect where the city erects official signs or paints markings: § 72.01 (narrow streets), § 72.02 (hazardous/congested places), § 72.03 (adjacent to schools), and § 72.04(C) (posted entrances). Angle-parking is allowed only where streets are marked or signed for it (§ 72.11(A)). Because these markings are official city actions, a resident painting a curb to claim a parking space has no legal effect and could face nuisance or property enforcement. There is no permit process for private curb painting.
Parking contrary to official curb markings or signs is a parking violation ($10 in 7 days, up to $500 in court, § 72.99); no separate penalty exists for curb color.
