Anderson's Zoning Ordinance lets you keep an RV, boat, or travel trailer on a residential lot with an occupied home. It may be used as temporary living/camping for up to 30 consecutive days (60 days/year), placed behind the front wall of the house and 5+ feet from the lot line.
Anderson defines a recreational vehicle as a single-chassis vehicle 400 square feet or less, designed for recreational camping, travel, or seasonal use. On residential lots with an existing, occupied home, an RV may be used as a temporary residence or for camping up to 30 consecutive days, capped at 60 days per calendar year with 30 days between placements. Such placements must be behind the front wall of the residence and at least 5 feet from the lot line. RVs on lots with no occupied home, and not in a legal campground or private recreational site, may be tagged and removed. RVs cannot be lived in on commercial or industrial property (except a public camp).
RVs used or camped on lots without an occupied home, or otherwise in violation, may be tagged then removed under the codes in place at the time of infraction.
